Mia Hatten and her two friends created Stick Pickers inspired by entrepreneurial skills she learned in Girl Scouts Mia was so inspired by the Girl Scout Cookie Program that she recruited two of her neighborhood friends Asa and Tucker. Together they created a business called Stick Pickers where they help their neighbors by picking up the sticks in their yard for them. The three kids have done their marketing, advertising, and even created a business plan all inspired by the entrepreneurial skills Mia learned in the Girl Scouts. They have their pricing set to what the customer chooses to pay for the service. Mia’s mom said, “I couldn’t be more proud of Mia and I appreciate that she is part of such an amazing and inspirational program.”
When Mia’s mom first heard that Mia would be selling cookies, she was not sure quite how it would drive an entrepreneurial spirit in her daughter. She decided to approach the program with Mia that it is her business, and she is her employee. With Girl Scouts, your girl has the opportunity to own her own magic. Through Girl Scouts, Mia has been able to exercise her entrepreneurial skills in her day-to-day life.
