The American Red Cross Basic Water Rescue course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to many types of aquatic emergencies. The Basic Water Rescue class will not certify you as a lifeguard or in CPR/First Aid, but it will help you meet requirements in the Safety Activity Checkpoints for water watchers, canoeing, fishing, corcl boarding, paddle boarding and kayaking. There are no prerequisites for the class. Upon successful completion of the Basic Water Rescue course, you will receive an American Red Cross certificate indicating Basic Water Rescue that is valid for 3 years.
