Get Outdoors

Since the beginning of Girl Scouting, outdoor experiences have been fundamental to the Girl Scout movement. Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, took girls outside to hike, play basketball, and get active more than a century ago because she knew that experiencing the glory of nature instills something special in girls.

Armed with this information, we have created resource to ensure that all girls have access to outdoor experiences. So dive in — we look forward to seeing you in the great outdoors!

Earth and Sky Day Camp

Day Camps are a tradition in Girl Scouting and a great way to make memories with your girls. GSMH wants to make it easier for Service Units to hold Day Camps, so we have done the hard part for you– the planning! We have created a program plan for a three-day “Earth and Sky Day Camp.”

Activities for Earth and Sky will focus around exploring the two topics of the Earth and the sky. Girls will learn about what we can do to help protect the Earth as well as making crafts out of recycled items. The sky portion of the program focuses on space exploration with lots of fun hands on science activities and space related crafts.

These guides include schedules and activities for each day, instructions for all activities and crafts, supply lists, and more!

Outdoor Skills Patch Program

The Outdoor Skills Patch Program is a progressive, six-level program to help Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors learn and become proficient in outdoor skills. Through this patch program, girls explore leadership, build skills, and develop a deep appreciation for nature. The program is intended to supplement the existing Girl Scout program. It is not meant to replace working on Journeys, badges, or outdoor programming at camp. Below are just a few of the skills!
