publications

In an effort to provide materials that are more user-friendly in format and helpful in content, Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland introduced some new publications this year. In lieu of a GO! Guide mailed to all girls once per year, we have published age-level newsletters for girls. These will be mailed directly to girls several times per year, and will include the program listings  previously in the GO! Guide, as well as additional age-appropriate opportunities, information, and stories to enhance their Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Volunteers will receive their own publication, called the Volunteer 411. Its predecessor, the Volunteer Magazine, included training dates, but not girl programs or other volunteer references. With 90% of our girl members being in Girl Scout troops, and all of those girls depending on volunteers to mentor and guide them, we have included more resources for troop volunteers in the Volunteer 411. Although girls will receive about 4 months of program listings in each newsletter, the Volunteer 411 still includes a full year of program listings (as included previously in the GO! Guide).

If you have any feedback on these publications, please email the marketing/PR specialist or call 877-312-4764 x1131.

Volunteer 411 Magazine

The Volunteer 411 is the new and improved replacement of the Volunteer Magazine. (See note above.) It is a comprehensive source for the year's council programs, trainings, and volunteer information. New this year – a whole section of advice and information just for troop leaders!

Intended to complement the Volunteer Essentials CD for troops, it includes:

  • Complete program listings for 2011-2012
  • Volunteer training dates for 2011-2012
  • Troop administration tips
  • Helpful resources, including websites and service project ideas
  • Overview of GS National Program Portfolio
  • GS history, lingo, and insignia
  • Planning pages
  • And much more!
